Fragrant Journeys – Olentium Perfume Workshops in Malta

Step into the world of artisanal fragrance creation with Olentium’s immersive perfume workshops in Malta — a half-day escape into the art and alchemy of natural scent blending. These are experiences that linger long after your visit to the Maltese Islands. We’ve heard from some of our workshop participants that they go on to start a new passion and hobby perfume making!

Whether you’re an island visitor, resident, a couple or a small group of friends, all you need is a passion for scent and an open curious, creative mind to enjoy the experience. Our perfume workshops are ideal also to celebrate a special occasion like an anniversary or upcoming wedding (think bridal group event). If you are seeking something beautifully different, this workshop offers more than just a memory or souvenir — it’s a chance to create your personal signature scent.

Led by Liz Grech, an international perfume award-finalist and registered Malta artisan, these sessions are designed to be inspiring, interactive, and delightfully aromatic. In a relaxed and intimate setting of a Maltese village home and garden, Liz introduces participants to the captivating language of perfume — from its historical traditions to modern blending techniques. No prior knowledge is needed — just a love of scent and a willingness to explore.

What to Expect?

You start your olfactory journey with a whistle-stop tour through perfumery history, taking in two millennia of mankind’s use, love and fascination with perfume materials. Then, you move on to the crux of perfume making; learning about perfume structures, the concept of top, heart, and base notes. With a selection of exquisite oils and botanicals at your fingertips, you’ll then begin crafting your own bespoke fragrance, guided step by step in a fun and informal atmosphere.

Our workshops last approximately 4 to 5 hours and include refreshments, prosecco or non-alcoholic options, and light snacks. At the end of the session, you’ll take home a 15ml bottle of your personally-created perfume, a 2ml sample from Olentium’s own collection, and a newfound appreciation for the world of scent.

Where Does It Take Place?

For smaller groups (under 6 people), perfume workshops in Malta are hosted in a traditional stone farmhouse — an atmospheric venue nestled in the heart of one of island’s most authentic villages. Larger groups (6 or more) are welcomed in a private venue in Valletta; the perfect place for bridal parties, creative team-building groups.
