OUR ETHOS
Luxury should not come at the expense of the world
Enjoying luxury should not be at the expense of the natural world nor of ethical human endeavour. Mindful of our footprint and the wastage that is all too rife in the beauty world, Olentium is taking the steps we can, at the junctures we can, in our journey into business to reduce, recycle and reuse.
We present and package our products in way to help our customers and retail partners to do the same. For instance, contrary to packaging norms, we do not wrap our perfume boxes in cellophane so as to reduce a layer that is instantly discarded.
We’re not perfect. Our endeavours to become more sustainable in our manufacturing, supply chains, distribution and at the end of life when our customers discard our packaging, is very much a journey.
Our first choice materials are natural ingredients and we use a carefully vetted palette of synthetic aromachemicals to extend important facets of our perfumes and to enhance their staying power.
You can find the ingredients we use in our perfumes in our Ingredient Transparency listing.
We strive to understand our supply chains and work with respected partners (IFF, Firmenich, Mane, Robertet, Floral Concept, Fraterworks…) to ensure our ingredients are sourced from manufacturers enacting sustainability measures. This is not an easy task, but we swap suppliers if we feel we do not have as transparent a picture of an ingredient’s origins as we’d like.
Be aware that natural ingredients are not automatically a more sustainable choice than synthetics. For more on this issue, see our blog post: Sustainable vs Natural Perfumes.
Our approach to packaging reflects the same principles that guide every aspect of Olentium. We believe that luxury should be thoughtful and quiet, as well as beautiful, using only the materials necessary to protect our fragrances, preserve their quality and ensure they arrive safely, as well as to provide our clientele with information.
We continually review our packaging to minimise environmental impact wherever practical, favouring recyclable materials and avoiding unnecessary presentation packaging, while recognising that fragile glass perfume bottles require appropriate protection during transport.
